Using a Reiki Box

Reiki Box is a term many Reiki students will come across at one time or another.  Depending on how much your Master/Teacher uses this technique will determine how much information on a Reiki Box is covered in your training. There are many Reiki practitioners that utilize this very effective tool frequently and then there are others still that barely use it at all.  It really is up the you the practitioner and what you are guided to do.

So what is a Reiki Box?  This can be any kind of box or container that will be used solely for Reiki.  The box itself can be made out of any type of material you would like.  And honestly it may not be a box at all as there are some practitioners that use other items and not just a box. The box may be made of wood or metal or perhaps decorated with jewels and ribbons.  Your Reiki box may be as simple or as decorated as you would like. There are those that like to use glass or wooden bowls or crystal bowls or even singing bowls.

In this Reiki Box you can put pictures, names or personal items of the person you would like Reiki to flow to.  You may like to add crystals that you are guided to use in healings and are used just for your Reiki Box.  Once your Reiki Box has all that you were guided to add to it along with something from the recipient you can “program” the Reiki Box.  This is when you will intend for Reiki to flow to the person or people that are listed inside the Reiki Box for a certain amount of time.  This can be hours, days, weeks, months or until their higher self decides that they no longer need Reiki sent to them.  Each day you may spend a few minutes or longer if you are guided to with the box.  You will focus and send Reiki to the box with the intention that all those listed inside will receive Reiki.

Like anything else your Reiki Box will need maintenance.  After awhile you could find yourself with quite a collection of papers with names listed on them or photos of people.  When you feel the amount of time that Reiki was needed has passed simply take these items out of your Reiki Box to make room for others that will need to be added.  What to do with these items when you are done with them can vary depending on the practitioner and their own beliefs.  Some people may like to ceremonially remove these items and burn them disposing of the ashes a certain way.  Others may find that cutting the cords to these items works for them.  Some may want to bury these items.  There are as many different ways to dispose of these items as there are Reiki practitioners.  So just follow what you are guided to do and know that Reiki is guiding you and whatever you do will not be wrong.        Written by: Sheila Sclafani-Cook
