Gratitude and Reiki
Everyone always speaks of being grateful for all of little things in life. For some people this is easier said than done. For many years i have been saying the “Reiki Principles” and the one line about “today i will be grateful” always makes me stop for a moment and really just allow the gratitude i feel towards everything in my life flow over me.
The Reiki Principles, in my opinion, are supposed to be used for that very purpose. To make us stop and really feel each principle. Gratitude to me is really the key to happiness and less stress in my life. Learning to be grateful for the small things in life may not always be an easy thing to do and in no way have I mastered this…but it is something that i do everyday and everyday it gets easier and easier. Feeling gratitude for all things allows the stress to just melt away and their to be complete joy. For each thing that will enter my mind that i am grateful for, another one comes just behind it. Each one bringing me to the center of my joy.
Through Reiki i have found that not just the principles but the actual practice of Reiki allows the gratitude to flow within me. The ability to be aware of the beauty that Reiki evokes in my life is amazing. The fact that something as simple as a headache that can fade after a quick Reiki session as well as the pain from a chronic dis-ease that can become bearable is something that i am grateful for everyday. Those are just on the physical level. On a spiritual and emotional level so much more happens.
Allowing Reiki to flow into my heart and truly open it to all the things that i am grateful for is a thing of wonder. A simple walk around the block can be something that i am grateful for, feeling the wind blow, feeling the warmth of the sun, hearing the birds reminds me that life is just simple moments. Everything can be broken down to it’s simplest form of why i am grateful through Reiki. Reiki is love and gratitude can certainly stem from love. It is an entire chain reaction that starts out very small but then one day you find how much it truly has grown. Years ago forcing myself to really think about and name one or two things that i am grateful for, all the way to today where my gratitude can become a seriously emotional moment.
Try to start your day off with a quick and simple thought of a few things that you are grateful for each and everyday and then allow that loving warm feeling to take over. This is something i personally practice and will typically follow it with a few minutes of Reiki before i even get out of bed. This has been the start to many wonderful days.
