What is Reiki?
What is Reiki? This is a question that has been asked a million times and has probably been answered a multitude of different ways. It all depends on the p ractitioner that you ask. Everyone seems to have an answer but what they are really answering is what is Reiki to them.
So what is Reiki? Basically Reiki is a healing energy that comes from source/God/Goddess/all that is. Depending on what your personal belief is will determine what your “source” of Reiki is. Reiki was introduced by Dr.Mikao Usui and passed down through attunements to his students and then to their students and so on and used on clients to help in their healing issues from physical to emotional. Reiki is a way to help clear yourself. Your mind, your body, your energy. These can all be helped to vibrate at a healthier frequency through the use of Reiki. Reiki can assist an individual with relaxation, healing and finding their path in life, That was a basic description.
Now what does Reiki mean to me? Reiki is Love. All things are possible through love and source/God/Goddess are all Love. This is the energy that Reiki connects you to. A universal love energy that helps in healing. Unconditional Love is something that many people simply do not fully understand. Once the idea of unconditional love is comprehended the connection with Reiki is so clearly visible.
One of the best examples of unconditional love is what a parent has for a child. No matter what that child does the parent will always love them. When a child gets injured, a scraped knee or a small cut, what is the first thing the parent does? They hold the child and comfort them. They put their hands on the injury and “make it all better”, they kiss the boo boo and it’s all better. In a basic definition this is Reiki. It is the same concept, although on a much greater scale. It is healing through universal unconditional love.
A Reiki practitioner must take classes and receive attunements for Reiki before they are able to connect with the Reiki energy. Many practitioners find that Reiki is something that found them and that they are quite ready to connect with Reiki energy and begin their own healing while helping to heal others along the way. Through the universal unconditional love that is Reiki many people will begin and continue on the path of healing.
